2018:SEPT21:PRANICMEDITATION:FB.jpg

September 21 is the Fall Equinox, and a sacred turning point in the yearly calendar, when we feel a natural shift from the upward and expansive high energy of summer to the inward, gathering energy of fall. Join us for a Prana Vinyasa® practice and live sound meditation with Minneapolis musician Shaamaahs that will help your nervous system adjust to this slower pace, while enjoying the experience of entrainment and sympathetic resonance, as we come together as a community to contemplate what we are "harvesting" from our deepest intentions of 2018.

DATE: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 21
TIME: 7:00-8:30
COST: $30 IN ADVANCE // $35 DAY OF

FACILITATORS:
Minneapolis musician Ron Fearing founded the solo project ShaamaahS with a desire to create a primordial sound that has the ability to engage a phenomenon called “sympathetic resonance”.

This primordial sound meditation involves Kargyraa, Dag Kargyraa Throat Singing, matched octave Chakra specific Singing Bowls, and a Shruti Box, which is performed solo and in unison.

This sound meditation uses esoteric “drone” instruments in a specific tuning that is relative to natural ratios that are seen within the natural world, our physiology, our solar system and ancient cultural paradigms. IE: Fibonacci, Phi, and Py- thagorean theorem.

Each instrument used in this meditation when combined is something that when experienced is very unique and quite powerful at each progressive level of energy body development. The goal of these sound meditations is to simply perform and provide a meditation that has the potential to relax, improve health, and/or obtain "Trance Meditation" states.

JOIN US FOR 108 SUN SALUTATIONS FOR WORLD PEACE!   The Global Mala is a world-wide yoga event created by Yoga Master and Global Activist Shiva Rea (  www.shivarea.com ) that unites the global yoga community to participate in a collective practice to create world peace. Yoga lovers from across the globe come together, usually near the fall equinox and the UN International Peace Day, in collective practices based on the sacred cycle of 108, creating a mala (prayer wheel), around the earth. As the breath and intention of millions of people come together in harmony, the resonance of the earth itself shifts, towards a brighter future; peace within us and between us, wisdom for our leaders, empathy for the suffering, and the awareness of our inherent connection to all beings.   The Rochester Global Mala event was created in 2010 under the leadership of Heather Ritenour-Sampson and a few yoga friends to bring together yoga teachers and students from a variety of local studios and health clubs to create unity and peace; to celebrate the diversity of our yoga community and to acknowledge the power of collective intention -- not just locally, but globally. This donation based event is offered in partnership with the Rochester Art Center, and donations are shared with the youth arts programs at the Art Center, and Project Legacy, a local organization that provides support and hope to youth of color who are refugees, homeless, recently incarcerated or gang related to transform their lives and become contributing members of their community.  www.projectlegacymn.org     DATE: Sunday September 23 TIME: 1:30-4:30 COST: Suggested Donation: $25 *all donations welcome Practice will include 108 sun salutations with optional modifications. As we feel the subtle shift of transitioning from the deep slumber of winter into the awakening of spring, we often feel a craving for space, to reach out towards the heavens like rays of sunlight.   In this workshop, we will explore a dynamic practice that focuses on the cultivation of inner and outer space, through a variety of standing balance poses that help us feel our inner stability while experiencing a deep sense of spaciousness, the almost weightless quality of no longer being encumbered by our physical bodies, as we return to the remembering of our light bodies.   The peak, or culminating asana is Vasisthasana -- an empowering krama (stage) of side plank that includes the potential for leg extension and deep hamstring opening.   We will explore the practice in honor of each participants ability to embody the asanas, exploring step-by-step, without expectation.   It is suggested that participants for this workshop have some experience with yoga practice, and have the ability to self-modify for any issues with weight bearing joints.   Space in this workshop is limited. More often than not, when we experience the fire element in yoga practice, we recognize it as a growing heat -- that as much as we try to keep steady, often burns brightly and then dies too soon; our body gets "burnt out" before the end of the practice, or the fire never quite ignites, and we feel stagnant and unsatisfied.   When we experience the fire element in a lunar practice, we learn how to cultivate heat as an inner art form -- through the breath, the experience of prana in the spine, and through consciousness -- as we focus our attention while surrendering into deep relaxation.   This lunar master class will include a slow restorative flow, along with deep quadricep and hamstring opening the awakens the kundalini shakti -- the energy -- at the center of the spine. Learn how to be both relaxed and fully present simultaneously, while listening to live music and soundscape provided by musician John Wheeler.   This workshop is limited to 6 participants outside of our teacher training group.
